VA to Prioritize Prescriptions During Holiday Season

Any mail order during the holiday season can be a hassle. The VA plans to ensure all Veterans receive their medications on time. If delays are expected, special arrangements can be made.

The VA uses their consolidated mail order pharmacy to track all prescription orders to Veterans through the USPS. Across seven automated pharmacies, the VA’s Mail Order Pharmacy is able to produce at a large-scale by:

  • Providing over 100 million Veteran prescriptions a year
  • Filling about 80 percent of all Veteran prescriptions
  • Processing over 450,000 prescriptions a day
  • Delivering over 300,000 prescriptions daily to Veterans all over the country

In the case of a forecasted delay, the VA will take steps to fill your prescription in advance. In addition, the VA will coordinate with the USPS to ensure an on-time delivery. If necessary, the VA will deliver your prescription overnight. Throughout the holiday season, the VA will be working with the USPS’ Federal Account Manager to ensure there are no delays in your prescription orders.
