Darci Knapp

Training & Development

With over three decades of dedicated service and expertise in self-direction, self-directed services, training, and procedural creation, Darci Knapp stands as a distinguished expert on the LKiChoice and AssuranceSD team. Darci has spent the entirety of her professional career with LKiChoice in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. During her career, she’s made significant contributions across several departments and programs within the organization.

Darci’s career in self-direction with LKiChoice began in 1993, then Lori Knapp Companies, when she joined the organization as a Direct Care Professional. She worked across numerous settings, including:

  • Adult Family Homes (AFHs)
  • Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs), and
  • Apartments for individuals with disabilities.

Darci assumed increasing levels of responsibility at Lori Knapp, eventually taking on leadership roles, managing multiple homes and an apartment complex, and overseeing the company’s Day Services Program.

Being a part of a team that is here for the participant to be able to stay in their own home as long as they can is an honor. Comfort, security, and the help that someone needs to be in their own home is vital to their happiness. Those within ASD aid thousands of participants to do just that. I am so grateful for all the employees in ASD who put their heart into their work!

Darci has been flexible in her roles with LKiChoice and has used her expertise to help grow the company across different departments. This includes accounting where she processed payroll, managed reports for funding sources, and reviewed/audited financial documentation of the residential facilities. She also worked in the compliance and risk department. There, she helped LKiChoice adhere to regulatory standards for the residential facilities and employees of the company, conduct audits, and implement training programs to meet regulatory standards. During this time Darci was also on the local Special Olympics Board as the Agency Manager and held that position for 10 years.

In 2010, Darci assumed the role of Medicaid Personal Care (MAPC) Manager. She established and managed the company’s Medicaid Personal Care program certification. Over the next decade, she led the program’s growth and success, overseeing all aspects from application requirements, training of company Registered Nurses(RNs) in the Medicaid (MA) program, supervising the RNs to comply with MA regulations,  reviewing/submitting prior authorizations, billing all personal cares to the state for reimbursement, being the main contact for the Office of Inspector General or Department of Quality Assurance for any audits.  Darci joined the local Children’s Advisory Board for 5 years to build community connections in Prairie Du Chien.

Darci’s leadership abilities expanded in 2014 when she became FEA Manager. Under her guidance, the organization experienced exponential growth, from under 200 participants to supporting over 3,000 participants. She developed policies/procedures, created with her team the culture of the company that is known today of customer service based with the human element evident in the style of approach the company has to their customers.  Darci also cultivated long-lasting relationships with funding sources. She also was on the board of the Wisconsin Personal Care Services Association (WPSA) for close to 20 years as a board member, Treasurer, President Elect, and President. She was asked by DHS to be a part of the DHS EVV Advisory Group and was chosen to be on the WI Long Term Care Advisory Council for 2 years for the State of Wisconsin’s Department Health Services/Department of Quality Assurance.

Currently, Darci works within the AssuranceSD company in training and development. She’s able to use her expertise by creating training programs, developing new processes, and collaborating with various departments to enhance operations and service delivery. Her commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities has made her an asset in accessing self-directed supports for AssuranceSD participants.
